A4 Goes Green with Recycled Polyester
A4, manufacturer of premium sportswear and team uniforms, is now making all its most popular apparel, and the vast majority of its line, with recycled polyester.
FULL STORYS&S Activewear, Bolingbrook, Ill., has opened a new 800,000 square-foot warehouse in Reno, Nev.
The new facility will carry 30% more SKU’s, three-times more inventory, and one-day shipping to the entire west coast.
Throughout its growth and new expansion, S&S has always been an innovator at heart, trying to find new creative ways of moving the needle forward, paying homage to industry pioneers such as Jasper Meek, Lawrence Herbert and Michael Vasilantone, according to the company.
Meek was the first person to advertise on products. He was the owner of a small newspaper and sought a way to maximize his printing press to boost readership sales, by advertising a friend’s shoe business on burlap bags. Further expanding the advertisement to local businesses on products and more.
Herbert was a color matcher in New York City and developed a standardized numeric system of colors, which specified the right amount of CMYK needed to create any one particular color.
Now known to as Pantone Color Matching, Herbert’s system is used by production houses and designers around the world as the industry standard for referencing color. The original system consisted of 10 printed color swatches and has evolved into over 1,800 shades.
Vasilantone invented the first Rotary Multi-Color Screen Printing machine (originally known as the “Stencil Printing Machine”). Vasilantone’s invention was the first iteration of modern-day printing machines. Manufacturers began buying the license to his technology, which became the t-shirt printing industry known today.
