A4 Goes Green with Recycled Polyester
A4, manufacturer of premium sportswear and team uniforms, is now making all its most popular apparel, and the vast majority of its line, with recycled polyester.
FULL STORYThe Ink Kitchen, a garment decorator’s blog founded by veteran screen printers Tom Davenport and Rick Roth, recently hosted the “Lucky 13 Bash” at Motion Textile’s Sacramento, Calif., facility to gather members of the decorated apparel industry together and to raise money for a worthy cause
Hosted April 13 by Davenport, who owns Motion Textile, and Roth, who owns Mirror Image, Pawtucket, R.I., the party featured The BellRays, a high-energy, punk, funk, rock and soul band from Riverside, Calif. In addition, guests enjoyed Samuel Adams beer, food and event T-shirts from Alternative, AllMade or BELLA+CANVAS, as well as a bag from Bayside for free.
All proceeds from the bash benefited the Sacramento Food Bank, a local, nonprofit agency committed to serving individuals and families in need. More than $12,000 was donated from the event in the form of cash, food and custom-printed T-shirts.
Special thanks goes to event sponsors Hirsch, SanMar, Hanes, BELLA+CANVAS, Bayside, Alternative, Los Angeles Apparel, Boston Beer, Amy’s Kitchen, Union Ink, Albatross, Transfer Express, GSF, Douthitt, Saati, Champion, MHM, Tajima, theshirtboard.com, Rutland and Jakprints.
Davenport and Roth trade off duties writing content on The Ink Kitchen blog on timely topics of interest to anyone who makes a living at decorating apparel. Topics include artwork, business, embroidery, Misprint Monday, screen printing, employees, ethics, organics and much more.
The pair also are a visible presence at industry trade shows and events, where they make themselves available to answer questions and provide valuable information to those getting started or grappling with challenges. — J.L.
