Boxercraft Announces Pancreatic Cancer Scholarship Application Deadline

July 12, 2019

Boxercraft, Mableton, Ga., recently announced its Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer Scholarship, with a July 15 deadline for fall-semester applicants.

The $3,000 scholarship was created in 2017 to honor the memory of Tod Rastello, former vice president of sales, who passed away in 2016 following a long and courageous fight against the disease. Boxercraft’s goal is to continue support his family, as well as other families across the country that have been affected by pancreatic cancer, according to the company. It hopes the scholarship will raise awareness and attention to those fighting against the disease, as well as ease the financial burden of college for these families, while enduring this difficult process.

To qualify for the scholarship, students must be currently fighting or have survived pancreatic cancer, or have a family member who has survived or currently is fighting the disease.

Additionally, applicants must be a high school senior and have been accepted into an accredited college or university or is a current college student; have a 3.0 GPA or higher; and submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay based on one of three offered topics.

The topics are:

  • How has pancreatic cancer had an effect on your life and how have your priorities changed?
  • What actions have you taken to bring awareness and attention to pancreatic cancer in your community?
  • What have you learned from your experience with pancreatic cancer, and how might you help others because of it?
