Melco Debuts Direct-to-Garment Printer

Melco Embroidery Systems, Denver, launched its MelcoJet direct-to-garment printer at the Imprinted Sportswear Show, held last month in Long Beach, Calif.

MelcoJet is an e-commerce-ready printer whose package includes a LiveDesigner Suite online T-shirt store and designer. Products can be designed and ordered through the application's Web site. LiveDesigner technology automatically sends users production-ready raster or vector designs, which will open directly into the Melco Jet RIP software, according to the company.

In addition to printing on light- and dark-colored cotton garments, the MelcoJet can print on light-colored polyester garments. A teflon-coated printhead, combined with firmware, provides protection against clogging and decreases ink purging costs, according to the company.
