Impressions Wins Three GAMMA AwardsApril 29, 2010The Impressions staff recently was honored at the 2010 Magazine Association of the Southeast (MAGS) GAMMA awards luncheon in Atlanta, taking home three awards for editorial excellence. The magazine received recognition in three categories, including a silver GAMMA award in the Best Service Journalism category for “How to Navigate the Ins and Outs of Shopping an Auction,” which appeared in the March 2009 issue and was written by contributor Greg Kitson, founder and president, Mind's Eye Graphics, Decatur, Ind. Additionally, Impressions won a bronze GAMMA in the Best Feature category for "Tunes Lead Teen/Tween Trends," which appeared in the August 2009 issue and was written by Deborah Sexton, contributing writer. Finally, the Impressions staff was awarded the honorable mention GAMMA in the Best Series category for its series of articles about "green" and eco-friendly trends and processes, appearing in the October 2009 issue. The articles were "Young Printers Think Green First," by Michael Wilson, co-founder and co-owner of Atlas Print, St. Augustine, Fla.; "T-Formation Invents Green Playbook," by Shannon Wilder, contributing writer; and "Green Shop Tour," by Tom Davenport, president of California-based Motion Co. All entries in this year’s competition were judged by a distinguished panel of national magazine editors, art directors and journalism professors.
