BREAKING NEWS: J.B. Bloomers Sold

December 01, 2009

J.B. Bloomers, Akron, Ohio, a supplier of cheer and dance clothing and accessories, was sold yesterday to Bloomers Inc. by managing partner Barry Lipsky.

According to Lipsky, the sale of the company was necessitated by "the desire of John Ward, equal managing partner, to retire, effective Nov. 30." Bloomers Inc. bought the company for an undisclosed amount, but Lipsky says company functions will remain "business as usual," and that he will remain with the company as national sales manager for the foreseeable future.

Little is known about Bloomers Inc., but Lipsky says the company's principals will be made public soon. He also says the company is in the process of revamping its product mix — previews of which can be seen at ISS Long Beach in January 2010 — and will be launching a new product category in March 2010.

"All of J.B. Bloomers' existing accounts will be notified [about the sale of the company] on an individual basis," Lipsky says. "We have been a leader in the cheer industry for 20 years, and we are a reliable and loyal firm. Customers will be assured of continuity and exemplary customer service, and I will continue to keep a watchful eye on the integrity of the industry." — J.L.
