Anvil Named Official Apparel Partner of Earth Day NetworkDecember 10, 2009Anvil Knitwear, New York, recently was announced as a partner with Earth Day Network as the organization's official T-shirt and knitwear partner. The partnership includes lead sponsorship of Earth Day, to be held April 25, 2010, and involvement in the 40th anniversary events leading up to it. Anvil also will develop an exclusive new apparel line for an Earth Day Network green campaign. As a T-shirt and knitwear partner, Anvil will design and develop knitwear made from organic, recycled, transitional and RPET fibers for Earth Day Network's apparel line. The line will be sold online and through retailers as early as the 2009 holiday season. It also will be available at all of Earth Day Network's events, including Earth Day on National Mall in Washington, D.C.; the global Earth Day 40th anniversary in April 2010; and commemorative celebrations in 40 cities around the world. Anvil also is working with Earth Day Network to develop an exclusive new product line for The Green Generation campaign, which mobilizes people worldwide to find solutions to urgent national and international issues, such as climate change and the global water crisis, according to the organization. The affiliated apparel line will feature AnvilOrganic and AnvilRecycled apparel, which will be available online in 2010, as well as at Earth Day Network events. Earth Day Network was founded by the organizers of the first Earth Day in 1970 to promote environmental citizenship. The organization now encompases more than 17,000 partners and organizations in 174 countries.
