Agion, Cyberknit Create Odor-Eliminating FabricFebruary 18, 2010Agion Technologies, Wakefield, Mass., and Cyberknit, a manufacturer of performance fabrics for the sports, fitness and tactical markets, recently announced a partnership develop a shirt that will incorporate dual odor-elimination capabilities, according to the company. Agion’s base natural silver-based anti-microbial technology has been used in more than 100 million pairs of shoes. Agion Active adds a new proprietary technology that pulls in environmental, ambient or absorbed odors like a vacuum and eliminates them, thus fighting odor both on and around the fabric, according to the company. To demonstrate the combination, Agion and Cyberknit partnered to create a treated shirt that will be used in Agion’s “Stink at Nothing” campaign, which challenges consumers to test the Agion Active odor-elimination technology by wearing the shirt and then engaging in their favorite sport. The test shirt material will be manufactured in the United States by Cyberknit, which supplies materials to brands such as Reebok, New Balance and Asics. “We are looking forward to the Agion Active consumer challenge,” says Menachem Katz, president, Cyberknit. “We have created a performance fabric worthy of the technology and we are eager to see it in action. We are confident that our partnership with Agion will continue to grow as we reach out to outdoor sports, fitness and tactical markets.” For more information, visit agion-tech.com. – J.L.
