ASPT Announces Student Award Winners at SGIA ExpoNovember 13, 2009The Academy of Screen Printing Technology (ASPT) recently presented awards to winners of its Student Screen Printing and Digital Imaging Awards competition during the 2009 SGIA Expo, which was held Oct. 7-9 in New Orleans. The competition, sponsored by SGIA, recognizes excellent work in the specialty imaging field. The entrants are comprised of high school, vocational, technical and college/university students. Josh Mills of Careerline Tech Center and his instructor, Joseph Boersma, won the ASPT Student Best in Show award (secondary school division) in the Textile Products category. Jesus E. Campos of Pasadena City College, with his instructors Kristin Pilon and Bert Johnson, won the ASPT Student Best in Show award (post-secondary school division) in the Decals, Water-Slide/Lacquer/Ceramic category. The winning students and their instructors earned the awards after receiving a gold ribbon in the initial judging in the Expo's Golden Image Gallery. Each student received plaques and scholarships toward graphic arts education, and their instructors each received plaques and monetary awards for their respective graphic arts programs.
